Manihi, a small remote hideaway located 330 miles from Tahiti,
is home to Tahiti's black pearl farms. It has become a refuge
for those seeking to "truly get away from it all"
while still having all of the modern conveniences on their tropical
island vacation. The 450 inhabitants live in the village of
Turipaoa, so privacy is premium and easily attained. The lagoon
has an amazing and wide array of colorful fish and the days
can be spent viewing them, whiling away in the sun or visiting
one of the pearl farms.

MANIHI ACTIVITIES
Biking
Biking on Manihi might take you through shady coconut groves,
or along lone roads pockmarked with land crab burrows. Cycles
can be rented at Manihi Pearl Beach Resort. Guests at other
hotels should consult management at their lodges.
Scuba Diving
Dives sites in Manihi are numerous. As its name would imply,
the Drop Off is a steep wall just outsdie the reef that descends
over 5900 (1800 meters). The waters are alive with giant jack
fish, snappers, marlin and other marine life.
At Tairapa Pass you'll find barracuda and tuna, as well as
the occasional manta ray or eagle ray.
Fishing
Vacationers seeking to catch some the atoll's mahimahi, tuna
or jack fish should inquire about fishing excursions at their
hotel.
Snorkeling
The snorkeling on the atoll is among the best on the South
Seas, and fish and marine plant life are especially plentiful
here.
